The Process
I took a grainy picture of her as a reference and decided to go with a limited color palette.

Early stages, the face still looks too flat with the lights missing. The freckles add character, and the hair is coming along great.

With the addition of some highlights she slowly comes to life.

After getting some constructive feedback I added a strong highlight on the cheekbone and some softer lights on eyebrows and eyelids, using a digital pencil instead of watercolor. I am really delighted by the results!
